OmicsBank Raises $2.25M to Build Clinical Data Infrastructure for Global Healthcare and AI
Orbit Ventures Team

OmicsBank has raised $2.25 million in seed funding led by Redesign Health to expand its clinical data infrastructure across the U.S., Asia and the Middle East. Orbit led OmicsBank’s pre-seed round in 2025.

Founded by Sumit Sinha and Vijay Goel, OmicsBank addresses a growing constraint in drug development and healthcare AI: the datasets underpinning research and AI do not adequately represent many populations around the world, particularly in genomic research.

Global clinical research is becoming increasingly distributed, with China and other emerging research markets playing a growing role. But significant geographic and demographic gaps remain. A 2025 World Health Organization (WHO) analysis found that more than 80% of genomic clinical studies were conducted in high-income countries, while fewer than 5% took place in low- and middle-income countries.

This matters for drug development and healthcare AI. When populations are underrepresented in clinical and genomic datasets, researchers can have less evidence to understand how diseases, biomarkers and treatment responses vary across different populations.

OmicsBank works with hospitals and diagnostic labs to organize and standardize fragmented patient data across medical records, imaging, pathology and molecular data. Its network now spans more than 90 hospitals and diagnostic labs across Asia, covering data from 12.5 million patients, 30 million+ DICOM images, 6 million pathology slides and 500,000 genome sequences.

This infrastructure enables pharmaceutical and biotech companies and researchers to access appropriately governed, research-ready data for drug development, real-world evidence and clinical AI, while helping hospitals turn fragmented clinical records into usable research infrastructure.

“Making medical and pharmaceutical research more representative of emerging market populations is not just a matter of inclusion. In medical research, the majority of the world’s population are underrepresented. OmicsBank is building the infrastructure to make this data accessible and improve healthcare globally,” remarks Oscar Ramos, Managing General Partner at Orbit Ventures.

With its latest funding, OmicsBank is expanding its hospital network across Asia, the Middle East and the U.S., while continuing to build relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology and AI companies.
